Chapter 35: How To Become Irreplaceable
the world is changing fast. here's what to do about it.
The world is changing faster than most people are ready for.
And while everyone’s talking about AI…
I still think it’s under-hyped.
Because this is more than a tech shift.
It’s a fundamental rewrite of how humans work, create, and live.
Here’s the uncomfortable truth:
White-collar jobs are going first.
Not overnight.
Not all at once.
But if your work is repetitive…
And can be broken down into simple steps…
An AI agent will learn how to do it.
That means massive leverage for the few who adopt early…
And an identity crisis for those who don’t.
This Isn’t Popular, But You Probably Already Feel It
The anxiety.
The confusion.
The creeping sense that everything is changing.
And under all that?
The quiet fear that you’re falling behind.
So now what?
You Have 3 Choices
1. Hide and hope
→ Pretend it’s a fad. Wait for it to pass. (It won’t.)
2. Go all in on the physical
→ Build in-person experiences. Real estate. Community. Local services. Etc.
3. Become irreplaceable
→ Build a body of work no one — and no bot — can replicate.
This week’s letter is for those choosing option 3.
Let’s talk about how.
How to Become Irreplaceable
1. Escape competition through authenticity
No AI can replicate your exact scars, story, or worldview.
Your lived experience is your greatest moat.
Become a purple cow.
2. Learn to love to learn
You have never had more access to information.
Shit, you have a PHD level assistant in your pocket 24/7.
Pick anything and GO.
90 days of focused effort puts you in the top 5% of any skill.
A year of obsession, and you’re in the top 1%.
But only if you fall in love with learning.
Read. Reflect. Tinker. Share. Connect dots.
Curiosity compounds.
3. Lean into specific knowledge
This is the stuff only you can do.
It’s tied to your background, obsessions, and quirks.
It feels like play to you, but looks like work to others.
4. Learn to build & learn to sell
These are the two meta-skills that drive all value creation:
→ Build: Create things (products, offers, content, systems)
→ Sell: Tell stories. Solve problems. Inspire action.
“If you can do both, you’ll be unstoppable.” — Naval Ravikant
5. Apply leverage
You’re not going to outwork AI.
You need leverage.
Labor — Hire or delegate.
Capital — Money working for you.
Code or Media — Software and content that works while you sleep.
Media is the easiest place to start.
A single idea, shared well, can change everything.
The Truth
Becoming irreplaceable isn’t easy.
It will demand more of you than anything you’ve done before.
You’ll have to reinvent yourself.
Bet on yourself.
Learn new skills.
Be a beginner again.
And commit to the process.
But if you do…
You won’t just stand out.
You’ll become irreplaceable.
Because the most valuable asset you’ll ever have?
Is you.
Your story.
Your perspective.
Your ability to learn and build a body of work that can’t be ignored.
A First Step (If You’re Ready)
If you want to become irreplaceable in the AI age…
Start with your story.
That’s why I built StorySchool.
A 30-day system to help founders and brands turn their story into strategy, and strategy into leverage.
You’ll get:
✅ Inspiration: 25+ real case studies of brands using story to grow their audience and income
✅ Education: 12 video modules & action steps to help you refine your narrative + content strategy
✅ Execution: A full content OS, with prompts, templates, and workflows to build online without burning out
It’s already helped a couple in Portugal add 130K followers and drive hundreds of inquires for weddings, retreats, and bookings at their property.
This isn’t about “getting more views.”
It’s about applying leverage and playing the modern game.
About building a body of work that makes you impossible to ignore and impossible to replace.
So, if you see where the world is going…
And you’re ready to do something about it…
Rooting for ya,
—Dodds
